Nature’s True Probiotic

Bacillus spores have naturally existed in our environment for over 250 million years. Nature designed these beneficial microbes to be our foundational daily supplement, to nourish and protect us.

Functional Probiotic supplements our gut microbiome with a much-needed balance of environmental bacteria absent in our hyper-sanitised, modern life.

To make any difference to your health, probiotic bacteria must reach your gut alive.

Bacillus spores are innately resilient, making them heat, light, stomach acid resistant. Ensuring potency and viability through transit and digestion.

  • Alive

Bacillus spores have a like seeds structure, alive yet dormant in a protective shell.

  • Survive

The shell shields it from heat, light, moisture and harsh conditions of stomach acid.

  • Arrive

Once the spore reaches the gut, alive and intact, it hatches and populates the gut.

  • Thrive

Boosted by prebiotics, the good bacteria delivers significant benefits to your microbiome.

  • Digestive Health

    B. Coagulans has been clinically proven to ease symptoms of IBS.

Maintains healthy digestion by increasing the production of digestive enzymes.

May alleviate bloating, cramps, diarrhoea and constipation.

Strengthens gut barrier integrity (gut lining). Leaky Gut symptoms are triggered when this barrier is damaged.

  • Gut Microbiome

    B. Subtilis produces 10-12 different antimicrobials that kill harmful bacteria.

    B. Coagulans produces L-lactic which lowers the gut’s pH making it the perfect environment for good bacteria to thrive.

Restores the gut flora after the damage induced by antibiotic treatment.

  • Anti-Inflammatory

B.Coagulans has been clinically proven to reduce the auto-inflammatory response associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

Eases certain symptoms of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).

  • Immunity

Over 70% of the immune system can be found in the gut.

    B. Subtilis stimulates the innate immune system.

Increases levels of Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs), beneficial for a development of a healthy immune system.

  • Cognitive Function

90% of serotonin (a mood-inducing hormone) is produced in the gut.

IBS symptoms are often triggered by stress and anxiety.

    Reinforces a healthy gut-brain connection.

  • Vitamin Synthesis & Absorption

    B. Subtilis produces vitamin K2 (Menaquinone-7), essential for heart health, healthy bones and cognitive function.

Improves absorption of nutrients and vitamins in the gut.

Prebiotic + Vitamin D

Pomegranate

A new study shows that pomegranates are high in dietary polyphenols which enhance the growth of beneficial bacteria and inhibit the growth of pathogens.

The seed and skin are high in  fibre and serve as a prebiotic (food for probiotic, live gut-friendly bacteria). Providing the necessary bulk to keep the bowel movement regular and optimise digestive health.

High in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Tumeric

A natural anti-inflammatory.

Boosts the activity of your body’s own antioxidant enzymes.

Studies show that daily supplementation of turmeric can be beneficial for IBS symptoms, helping to relieve bloating and abdominal pain, as it has antispasmodic (i.e. helps to ease cramps) with carminative (relieves flatulence) properties.

Vitamin D3

Research shows that probiotics work together with vitamin D3 to improve the efficacy of vitamin D receptors, increasing the potency by 25%.

Studies have found that many people suffering from IBS have a vitamin D deficiency. Increasing the level of the vitamin can reduce these symptoms.

Facts & Questions

What is a prebiotic, probiotic, synbiotic, postbiotic?

Probiotic is the name given to live microorganisms which, when consumed, provide a range of health benefits.

Prebiotic is a non-digestible fibre that feeds the beneficial bacteria in your gut and enables them to grow, giving them the best chance to survive and thrive in your gut.

We exclusively use non-fermenting prebiotics that have a low FODMAP (fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols) profile and as a result are bloat-free.

Synbiotic is a term to describe a combined mixture of a Prebiotic + Probiotic.

Postbiotic is a relatively new term to describe bioactive compounds produced by bacteria that have functional activity. For example, B. subtilis synthesises Vitamin K2 in the gut and produces natural antibiotics that protect the body against food-borne pathogens.

How many billions of probiotic bacteria do I need?

This is always a difficult question to answer but let’s explain like this. Humans typically carry about 1,000-10,000 Bacillus spores/ml of gut contents where the gut (excluding the stomach) has a volume ranging from 250-350ml. These Bacillus spores are being acquired daily from the environment (mostly food). For comparison the same volume would contain about 10-100 million Lactobacilli but here the Lactobacilli are mostly resident in the gut. It is easy to see that a super-clean diet or sedentary lifestyle could drastically reduce the number of Bacilli while Lactobacilli numbers would mostly remain unchanged. To account for the entire gut we have calculated that a daily dose of between 2-5 billion would be sufficient to maintain a functionally active dose of Bacillus in the gut.

When can I expect to feel the benefits?

24-48 hours

Improved digestion, relief from bloating, cramps, diarrhoea, bowel movement and flatulence.

1-3 months

Improved symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Leaky Gut, and SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), depending on the severity of the condition.

3 months and beyond

Long-term benefits like improved cognitive function and immunity may take longer to kick in, or you may not notice anything at all. Don’t panic, this is completely normal. As long as the bacteria in Functional Probiotic are allowed to do their thing, your microbiome will be working to support and enhance your health.

Can I take it with other supplements, medication, or antibiotics?

You can take Functional Probiotic with Gut-Skin Axis.

There are no known contraindications with other supplements or medicines, although we encourage you to consult with your doctor especially if you are pregnant, nursing or under medical supervision.

Effective during antibiotic treatment to restore the gut flora damaged by the antibiotics.
